Inauguration of Munsiff Court Complex in Akhnoor Marks a Milestone in Justice Accessibility

In a significant move to enhance access to justice and improve the legal framework in Jammu and Kashmir, the newly constructed Munsiff Court complex in Akhnoor was officially inaugurated today by Justice Tashi Rabstan, Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, accompanied by Justice Sanjeev Kumar. The ceremony was attended by various judicial and administrative dignitaries, marking a historic milestone in the region’s legal development.

Upon their arrival in Akhnoor, the distinguished guests were warmly welcomed by Yash Paul Bourney, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Jammu, and Rajesh Gupta, Chief Engineer PWD (R&B) Jammu. The District Police Jammu also presented a ceremonial guard of honour to the esteemed guests.

Justice Tashi Rabstan’s Vision for the Future of Justice

In his inaugural address, Justice Tashi Rabstan underscored the importance of expanding judicial facilities throughout the region. He stated, “This is a momentous occasion that will significantly enhance the accessibility of justice for the people of Akhnoor. With the establishment of this court, we are taking an important step to ensure the legal needs of our citizens are addressed efficiently and fairly.” His remarks reflected the commitment to strengthening legal infrastructure and promoting greater access to justice for the people in Jammu and Kashmir.

Justice Sanjeev Kumar Highlights Impact on Timely Justice Delivery

Justice Sanjeev Kumar, Administrative Judge for District Jammu, also delivered a special address, emphasizing the pivotal role the new court building would play in speeding up the justice delivery process. He explained that the facility would be especially beneficial to residents of Akhnoor and the surrounding towns, ensuring timely adjudication of cases and alleviating the burden on other courts in the region.

Optimism for Streamlined Legal Processes

Yash Paul Bourney, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Jammu, conveyed optimism regarding the impact the new Munsiff Court would have on reducing delays in case processing. He expressed hope that this facility would contribute to more effective judicial operations and better serve the public’s needs.

Acknowledgments for Efficient Project Completion

During the proceedings, Rajesh Gupta, Chief Engineer PWD (R&B) Jammu, provided a brief account of the project report, outlining the construction details and timeline. The President of the Bar Association, Akhnoor, praised the proactive efforts of the High Court, particularly the Chief Justice, in ensuring the completion of the project within the scheduled timeline.

The ceremony was conducted by Arushi Shukla, Munsiff of Akhnoor, who managed the proceedings seamlessly. The event also saw the presence of several notable figures, including Shahzad Azeem, Registrar General; M K Sharma, Principal Secretary to the Chief Justice; Preet Simran Grover, Chief Judicial Magistrate Jammu; Smriti Sharma, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Jammu; Mukhtar Ahmed, SDM Akhnoor; Satish Sharma, SDM Khour; Naresh Kumar, Tehsildar Akhnoor; and members of the local Bar Association, all of whom contributed to the success of this monumental event.
