Jammu, February 2025:<\/strong> Claiming that the people of Jammu and Kashmir<\/strong> are suffering badly due to the absence of powers with the elected Government, JKPCC chief Tariq Hameed Karra<\/strong> today asked BJP<\/strong> to explain whether the commitment to restore Statehood<\/strong> was another \u2018Jumla\u2019<\/em> of the Modi Government<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing a workers\u2019 convention of District Jammu Rural<\/strong> in the Muthi area of Jammu<\/strong>, Karra questioned the local BJP<\/strong> for its silence over the neglect of the most popular demand<\/strong> of the people of J&K<\/strong>. He criticized the BJP for failing to fulfill promises made before Parliament, the Supreme Court<\/strong>, and the people of J&K<\/strong> during recent Assembly elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Karra further asserted that the Congress Party<\/strong> would not rest until the Central Government<\/strong> fulfills its commitment to restore Statehood<\/strong>. He also pointed out the silence of local BJP leaders and MLAs<\/strong> despite securing a huge mandate from the people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIs this not a continued deceit of the Centre over the most fundamental demand of the general public and their rightful claim?\u201d<\/em> he questioned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He emphasized that people in J&K<\/strong> are suffering due to the lack of an elected government, and various sections, including unemployed youth, daily wagers, contractual employees, adhoc workers, NHM employees, Anganwadi and Asha workers, and SPOs<\/strong>, continue to wait for justice from the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Karra highlighted that Dogras<\/strong> are the worst affected, having lost their identity, status, dignity, and rights<\/strong> to protect their land, jobs, and natural resources<\/strong>. He accused the BJP of allowing outsiders to exploit the region<\/strong> and suppressing Dogra culture, language, and peaceful co-existence<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCongress has a history of sacrifices before and after independence, with two Prime Ministers sacrificing their lives, while the BJP carries a legacy of \u2018Mafinama\u2019 politics and now seeks certificates of nationalism from Congress,\u201d<\/em> he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Congress Leaders Speak on People\u2019s Rights<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the gathering, Tara Chand<\/strong> spoke about the Congress Party\u2019s<\/strong> role in uniting people and uplifting the downtrodden<\/strong>, ensuring that Dalits occupied prime positions<\/strong> in government through constitutional reservations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Raman Bhalla<\/strong> referred to the large-scale development<\/strong> during the ten years of UPA rule<\/strong> and coalition government in J&K<\/strong>, but lamented that the Modi Government arbitrarily snatched the region\u2019s identity and rights<\/strong> while now attempting to mislead the people<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
