Worshippers gathered since the early hours, offering <strong>water, flowers, Bel leaves, milk, and curd<\/strong> to the sacred <strong>Shivlingam<\/strong>. Special night-long prayers were organized, with devotees observing fasts and engaging in rituals with deep devotion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A festive atmosphere prevailed as <strong>special langars<\/strong> were arranged by individuals, religious groups, and social organizations across the city, especially near temples. Devotees and passersby were served food and snacks, adding to the spirit of the celebrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">High-Profile Visits and Security Arrangements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>National Conference president and former Chief Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah<\/strong>, accompanied by party colleagues, visited <strong>Ranbireshwar Temple<\/strong>, offering prayers and participating in <strong>Bhandara service<\/strong>. Several other prominent leaders also visited various temples, extending greetings on the occasion of <strong>Maha Shivratri<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To ensure a smooth and incident-free celebration, <strong>tight security arrangements<\/strong> were put in place. However, the heavy influx of devotees led to <strong>massive traffic jams<\/strong> on roads leading to major temples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Devotees Throng Shiv Khori Shrine in Reasi<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Shiv Khori Shrine in Reasi district<\/strong> witnessed thousands of devotees offering prayers and seeking blessings. Apart from spiritual rituals, devotees also relished <strong>local cuisine<\/strong> at food stalls set up along the shrine\u2019s route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Srinagar\u2019s Historic Shankaracharya Temple Illuminated for \u2018Herath\u2019<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In <strong>Srinagar<\/strong>, the historic <strong>Shankaracharya Temple<\/strong> was adorned beautifully for the festival, drawing large crowds of devotees despite the <strong>chilly and wet weather conditions<\/strong>. Locally known as <strong>\u2018Herath\u2019<\/strong>, Maha Shivratri holds immense significance for the Kashmiri Pandit community. Long queues of worshippers chanting hymns and performing rituals created a divine ambiance at the temple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Grand Celebration of Faith<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Maha Shivratri celebrations across <strong>Jammu and Kashmir<\/strong> reflected the deep-seated faith and devotion of the people.
