Stalin<\/strong> on <strong>Saturday<\/strong> emphasized that the issue is likely to be taken to the <strong>legal domain<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the meeting, <strong>Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan<\/strong> raised concerns that the proposed <strong>delimitation<\/strong> was hanging like the <strong>&#8220;sword of Damocles&#8221;<\/strong> over the southern states. He accused the <strong>BJP-led Central Government<\/strong> of <strong>pushing the issue forward without proper consultation<\/strong>. He further remarked that this move was not based on <strong>constitutional or democratic principles<\/strong> but was driven by <strong>political interests<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vijayan pointed out that <strong>delimitation after the Census<\/strong> would result in <strong>an increase in seats for northern states<\/strong> and <strong>a reduction in seats for southern states<\/strong>, which, he alleged, would benefit the <strong>BJP due to its stronger influence in northern regions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Addressing the gathering, <strong>CM Stalin<\/strong> called for the <strong>formation of an expert panel<\/strong> to draft a <strong>political and legal action plan<\/strong> on the issue. He proposed naming the panel as the <strong>&#8220;Joint Action Committee for Fair Delimitation&#8221;<\/strong> and stressed the need for collective efforts to <strong>protect the representation of southern states<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We are <strong>not against delimitation<\/strong>, but we demand a <strong>fair delimitation<\/strong>,&#8221; Stalin asserted, adding that <strong>continuous efforts are crucial<\/strong> to safeguard the <strong>rights of southern states<\/strong>.
