{"id":1413,"date":"2025-03-27T08:33:48","date_gmt":"2025-03-27T08:33:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/duggarsamvad.in\/?p=1413"},"modified":"2025-03-27T08:34:15","modified_gmt":"2025-03-27T08:34:15","slug":"delhi-high-court-seeks-police-response-on-sharjeel-imams-plea-in-2019-jamia-violence-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/duggarsamvad.in\/?p=1413","title":{"rendered":"Delhi High Court Seeks Police Response on Sharjeel Imam\u2019s Plea in 2019 Jamia Violence Case"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Delhi High Court<\/strong> on Thursday sought the response of the city police on a plea by activist <strong>Sharjeel Imam<\/strong> challenging a trial court\u2019s order to frame charges against him in the <strong>2019 Jamia violence case<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Justice <strong>Sanjeev Narula<\/strong> also refused to stay the trial court proceedings in the case at this stage. The court issued a notice to the police on the main petition as well as on the stay application and listed the matter for further hearing on <strong>April 24<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Imam has challenged the trial court\u2019s <strong>March 7<\/strong> order, in which it stated that he was not only an <strong>instigator<\/strong> but also one of the <strong>\u201ckingpins of a larger conspiracy to incite violence\u201d<\/strong> and had ordered to frame charges against him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The trial court observed that Imam\u2019s <strong>December 13, 2019<\/strong> speech near <strong>Jamia Millia Islamia University<\/strong> was <strong>\u201cvenomous\u201d<\/strong>, \u201cpitted one religion against another,\u201d and was <strong>\u201cindeed a hate speech\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The case is being heard against Imam and others, who were booked at <strong>New Friends Colony Police Station<\/strong> under various provisions of the <strong>IPC<\/strong>, the <strong>Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act (PDPP)<\/strong>, and the <strong>Arms Act<\/strong>.
