The prestigious event, held in collaboration with the <strong>Association of Indian Universities<\/strong>, brings together over <strong>1200 top athletes<\/strong> representing nearly <strong>150 universities<\/strong> from across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The inaugural ceremony was presided over by <strong>Vice Chancellor of the University of Kashmir, Professor Nilofer Khan<\/strong>. Prominent dignitaries in attendance included <strong>VC of Central University of Kashmir, Professor Ravinder Nath<\/strong>, <strong>VC of IUST, Professor Shakeel A. Romshoo<\/strong>, and <strong>VC of Cluster University Kashmir, Professor Mohammad Mubeen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In his address, Minister Satish Sharma lauded the University of Kashmir for hosting a tournament of such scale and importance. \u201cThis championship is not just a display of strength, but a powerful symbol of <strong>inclusivity, equality, and sporting excellence<\/strong>,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that the enthusiastic participation of athletes reflects the <strong>growing commitment and discipline<\/strong> among India&#8217;s youth toward fitness and competitive sports. \u201cPowerlifting,\u201d he noted, \u201cis more than just a physical contest\u2014it&#8217;s a <strong>test of inner resilience, mental strength, and determination<\/strong>. It teaches us that even the heaviest burdens can be overcome with perseverance and consistent effort.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Highlighting the government\u2019s focus on the development of sports, Sharma stated that <strong>Jammu and Kashmir has seen a resurgence<\/strong> in sporting activities in recent years.
