In a scathing attack on the BJP, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) chief Tariq Hameed Karra<\/strong> today accused the ruling party of exploiting the bravery of the armed forces for political gain, claiming that Operation Sindoor is a matter of national security, not a political gimmick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing a press conference at the PCC office in Jammu, Karra condemned statements made by BJP leaders, including Madhya Pradesh Minister Vijay Shah<\/strong> and Deputy CM Jagdish Devda<\/strong>, as \u201cinsulting\u201d to the valor and sacrifice of the Indian armed forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Karra emphasized that the armed forces serve the nation, not a political party<\/strong>, and should be respected beyond party lines. \u201cThe BJP\u2019s attempt to hijack the glory of Operation Sindoor for electoral mileage is a dishonor to our jawans,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Congress Conducts Ground Visit to Border Districts<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Flanked by Working President Raman Bhalla<\/strong>, Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma<\/strong>, AICC Secretary Neeraj Kundan<\/strong>, and other leaders, Karra recounted his extensive tour of affected areas in Poonch, Rajouri, Jammu, Samba<\/strong>, and Kathua<\/strong>. He said the team visited Temples, Gurudwaras, and Mosques<\/strong> damaged by Pakistan shelling and met several victim families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPoonch is the worst hit,\u201d Karra noted, adding that the civilian population was deliberately targeted<\/strong> by Pakistan, reflecting an \u201cinhuman face.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Demands for Martyr Status & Special Relief Package<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Karra demanded martyr status<\/strong> for all who lost their lives in the Pahalgam terror attack<\/strong> and the recent cross-border shelling<\/strong>, including civilians. He criticized the government for denying the status even to Agniveers<\/strong> killed in action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also called for a comprehensive special package<\/strong> for border residents, which should include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Construction of bunkers and community shelters<\/strong> in populated areas<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Audit and upgrade<\/strong> of existing infrastructure<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Immediate interim relief<\/strong> for damaged homes<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Special recruitment drives<\/strong> for border youth<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Permission for self-defense weapons<\/strong> to border villagers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Karra reminded the media that the UPA Government had provided a \u20b960 crore package<\/strong> for Chhamb border victims, suggesting that a similar initiative be extended to zero-line LoC areas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Jai Hind Yatra on May 20<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    To honor the valor of Indian forces and unite people in national solidarity, Karra announced a \u2018Jai Hind Sabha\u2019<\/strong> followed by \u2018Jai Hind Yatra\u2019<\/strong> on May 20<\/strong>, starting 10:30 AM from Shaheedi Chowk to Indira Chowk, Jammu<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Karra Defends BJP Legislator Against False Accusations<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    He also defended a former BJP legislator<\/strong> from Poonch who was reportedly labeled a terrorist by a media outlet while helping the injured during a religious teacher\u2019s killing. \u201cSuch journalism is shameful and dishonors a true martyr,\u201d Karra said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Nation United Against Terrorism<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Karra hailed the spirit of Hindu-Muslim unity<\/strong> and the strong national support<\/strong> for the government\u2019s action against terrorism.
