Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday spoke with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to review the situation following a massive cloudburst in the Sahastradhara region of Dehradun.<\/p>\n
The cloudburst, which occurred on Monday night, triggered massive flooding in the Karligaad rivulet, causing a damage and destruction in the area. Several shops were swept away and at least two people are feared missing.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey assured all possible assistance to the state and stated that the central government stands firmly with the state in this hour of disaster,\u201d a statement from the Uttarakhand Chief Minister\u2019s Office said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Chief Minister informed that the administrative machinery is fully active in the affected areas, and rescue and relief operations are being carried out on a war footing,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n
Following the disaster, CM Dhami conducted on-site inspection of the areas affected by excessive rainfall in Dehradun district. Local MLAs and senior officials were also present with him.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe state government stands with every affected family. The administration is already on alert mode, and NDRF, SDRF, police, and local administration are continuously active,\u201d CM Dhami said.<\/p>\n
The Chief Minister has directed officials to ensure that no affected family faces inconvenience and that relief materials, safe shelter, food, water, and health facilities are provided immediately.<\/p>\n
