The initiative, which reflects the Sikh tradition of selfless service, saw over&nbsp;<strong>700 volunteers<\/strong>&nbsp;deliver meals to more than&nbsp;<strong>10,000 individuals<\/strong>&nbsp;at&nbsp;<strong>80 locations<\/strong>&nbsp;spanning&nbsp;<strong>New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and Connecticut<\/strong>, according to a media release on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event was inspired by the teachings of&nbsp;<strong>Guru Nanak<\/strong>, the founder of the Sikh religion, who established the concept of&nbsp;<strong>Langar<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 a community kitchen where food is provided for free, regardless of background, ethnicity, or religion. Speaking about the event,&nbsp;<strong>Onkar Singh<\/strong>, one of the key organizers, said, \u201c<strong>Let\u2019s Share a Meal<\/strong>&nbsp;was inspired by the life and teachings of Guru Nanak, who emphasized the importance of serving others and promoting equality and community spirit.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since its inception, the organization has served over&nbsp;<strong>1 million meals<\/strong>&nbsp;across the U.S., a remarkable achievement. Reflecting on the growth of the initiative,&nbsp;<strong>Harleen Kaur<\/strong>, a long-time volunteer, shared, \u201cI\u2019ve been part of this incredible effort for over 15 years, and I am so grateful to see how it has grown. Every year, more and more people \u2014 volunteers and donors alike \u2014 come together to make this possible.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">LSM\u2019s annual meal distribution has expanded significantly, from just&nbsp;<strong>1,500 meals<\/strong>&nbsp;in its first year to over&nbsp;<strong>20,000 meals<\/strong>&nbsp;served annually today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Onkar Singh emphasized the broader message behind the initiative: &#8220;We are trying to teach our children the core values of our religion, which include&nbsp;<strong>peace, harmony, and oneness<\/strong>. Oneness is not just for Sikhs but for all of humanity. The world is one community, and nobody should be hungry or unequal.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event drew volunteers not just from the Sikh community, but also from other groups, highlighting the inclusive nature of the effort.
