Five individuals suffered injuries after two vehicles collided near the Zojila Pass area on Monday. The accident occurred in the afternoon, raising immediate concerns for passenger safety on one of the region’s busiest routes.
Officials reported that medical teams swiftly transported the injured to Primary Health Centre (PHC) Sonamarg. There, staff provided initial care before referring the victims to SKIMS Soura for advanced medical treatment.
The victims include Manzoor Hussain, son of Sadiq Ali Balti; Shabir Hussain, son of Hussain Ali Balti; Sadiqa Bano, wife of Manzoor Hussain; Masrat Zara, daughter of Manzoor Hussain; and Fareeda Bano, daughter of Moad Hussain—all residents of Kargil.
The accident raised alarms among locals who frequently traverse the Zojila Pass, known for its challenging driving conditions. Authorities are keen to identify the cause of the crash to prevent future incidents.
