A senior Border Security Force (BSF) officer has issued a warning regarding terrorist activities at the Line of Control (LoC). Inspector General (IG) Ashok Yadav stated that terrorists await opportunities to infiltrate into the Kashmir valley, marking an alarming increase in infiltration attempts before the winter season.
During a press briefing on Saturday, Yadav emphasized the ongoing threat. “There are always attempts to infiltrate before snowfall,” he noted. “We anticipate these attempts to continue until November, as terrorists understand they have fewer opportunities in the coming winter months.” The IG explained that the geographical characteristics and weather conditions in the region significantly impact infiltration efforts.
Yadav pointed out the presence of terrorists on launch pads across the LoC, particularly in Bandipora and Kupwara sectors. He reiterated the critical situation saying, “They are poised to exploit any chance they get to cross into the valley, especially during inclement weather.”
The security forces remain steadfast in their commitment to counter any infiltration attempts, operating with heightened vigilance and tactical efficiency. “Our alertness makes it extremely difficult for them to succeed in their objectives,” Yadav confirmed. He commended joint operations between the Army and BSF, which have proven effective under current circumstances.
Throughout the year, the security forces have successfully thwarted two infiltration attempts to date, showcasing their robust operational capabilities. “We dominate the LoC effectively, employing new surveillance technologies that enhance our operational performance,” stated Yadav.
This proactive approach aligns with broader security strategies aimed at maintaining stability in the Kashmir region. The BSF remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of civilians while preventing terrorist infiltration and associated risks.
In the face of evolving threats, the IG assures citizens that the forces will remain vigilant. “Our readiness and dedication to protecting our borders are unwavering. We will tackle any challenges that arise regardless of circumstances,” Yadav concluded.
