A Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist, Parminder Singh, popularly known as Pindi, has been extradited from the UAE to India, confirmed a senior Punjab Police officer on Saturday. This significant development signals a decisive action against terrorism and organized crime in Punjab.
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav announced that the extradition comes after extensive coordination between Indian central agencies and UAE authorities. Pindi, who has close ties with foreign-based terrorists Harwinder Singh alias Rinda and Happy Passia, was brought back from Abu Dhabi following a request for extradition.
Pindi stands accused of multiple heinous crimes, which include orchestrating petrol bomb attacks, executing violent assaults, and engaging in extortion activities primarily in Batala, a city in Gurdaspur district of Punjab.
On September 24, acting on a red corner notice (RCN) issued by the Batala police, a dedicated four-member team of Punjab Police, led by a senior officer, commenced their journey to the UAE. They worked closely with the Ministry of External Affairs and UAE authorities to facilitate the extradition process.
“After completing all legal formalities, our team successfully brought the accused back to face justice in India,” stated Yadav. He emphasized that this operation underscores Punjab Police’s relentless commitment to curbing the threats posed by international terrorism and ensuring public safety.
The extradition has heightened security discussions within the region, with law enforcement agencies preparing for potential retaliatory actions from terrorist networks. The police remain vigilant and have urged citizens to report any suspicious activities to support their ongoing efforts against crime.
Experts believe that the extradition of high-profile terrorists like Parminder Pindi will weaken organized crime networks operating in Punjab. “Tackling terrorism requires multinational cooperation and persistent legal actions, which have been evident in this case,” said an anonymous security analyst familiar with the situation.
As Punjab grapples with the continuing issues of crime and violence tied to terrorism, the successful extradition showcases a collaborative approach to enhancing security and restoring law and order in the region.
