PM Modi Highlights 11 Years of ‘Make in India’ Initiative
On the third anniversary of ‘Make in India,’ PM Modi emphasized its role in strengthening the economy. He praised job creation and innovation while promoting self-reliance.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday marked the 11th anniversary of the ‘Make in India’ initiative, stating that it has been vital for economic growth and self-reliance in India. Launched 11 years ago, the initiative aims to enhance domestic manufacturing capabilities across various sectors.
In a statement posted on X, Modi expressed, “It is gladdening to see how 11 Years Of Make In India has contributed to furthering economic strength and laying the foundation for Aatmanirbharta. It has encouraged innovation and job creation across sectors.”
PM Modi noted that the vision behind Make in India was to harness India’s entrepreneurial potential and propel the nation towards rapid growth. He stated, “Make in India has given an impetus to India’s entrepreneurs, thus creating a global impact.”
The Prime Minister called for intensified efforts towards indigenous production, emphasizing the government’s commitment to fostering a ‘Swadeshi’ economy. He reiterated that the government stands strongly with various stakeholders in this endeavor.
During the occasion, PM Modi inaugurated the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show-2025, where he outlined several government reforms aimed at enhancing the ease of doing business in India. He mentioned that the government has eliminated over 40,000 unnecessary compliance requirements.
“The government is putting a strong emphasis on Make in India manufacturing. We want everything from chip to ship to be manufactured in India,” he declared, highlighting ongoing policy changes aimed at supporting local industries.
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal also praised the centre’s efforts in indigenous defence production, stating that “The world is a witness to India’s defence manufacturing strength today!” Goyal attributed these successes to the Make in India initiative, which has guided the nation in building a robust defence manufacturing ecosystem.
To further illustrate the initiative’s success, the Defence Ministry confirmed the successful launch of the Intermediate Range Agni-Prime Missile, designed to reach up to 2,000 km. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the agencies involved in this achievement, reinforcing the message that India’s aerospace sector is catching up with global standards.
The government’s focus on enhancing domestic manufacturing not only aims to boost the economy but strives to position India as a leader in multiple sectors on the global stage. As Make in India celebrates its milestone, the Modi government reiterates its dedication to a self-sufficient economy, reflecting a vision that resonates with many Indians.
