Two Injured in Thar and SSB Bus Collision in Srinagar

Two individuals sustained injuries in a serious road accident involving a Thar and an SSB bus on Friday morning at Baghat Chowk in Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.

A police official reported that the incident occurred when the speeding Thar collided head-on with the bus, resulting in injuries to the two passengers in the Thar.

The injured were promptly administered medical assistance and transported to a nearby hospital for further care.

Authorities have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Police have taken cognizance of the incident and are examining traffic conditions at Baghat Chowk to prevent future accidents.

Road safety has become a major concern in Srinagar, especially with the rising number of vehicles on the roads. According to local reports, the frequency of accidents in the region has increased in recent months, prompting calls for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations.

A witness at the scene, who preferred to remain anonymous, stated, “The sound of the collision was deafening, and we rushed to help the injured immediately.” Witness accounts suggest that speeding may have been a contributing factor to this incident.

Emergency services arrived promptly on the scene, offering assistance and ensuring the safety of other road users.

Officials from the SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal) confirmed that their personnel were not injured in the collision. However, they are cooperating fully with the investigation.

As authorities assess the accident, they urge all drivers to exercise caution and adhere to traffic rules, stating, “Safety on the roads should be everyone’s priority.” Efforts to enhance road safety measures in Srinagar continue amid increasing traffic.
