In an official declaration, the Crime Branch spokesperson revealed that the operation took place at five distinct sites in the two districts. He affirmed, “The Special Crime Wing, Srinagar of Crime Branch Kashmir is carrying out house searches in connection with a case registered at Police Station Special Crime Wing, Srinagar pertaining to commission of cheating.”
The investigation initiated following a complaint from a local, alleging deceit in a land sale transaction. The complainant had acquired documents believed to be legitimate and, trusting their authenticity, transferred lakhs of rupees. However, further inquiries confirmed that the land in question did not actually belong to the sellers.
